@cocoanutz, I'm really glad that you have stuck around CCF and are continuing to post coins. I suspect that these linear striations are not die cracks or the result of a shattered die, but rather something more mundane like damage, linear plating bubbles, or flan imperfections. It is odd how they seem to line up with the imperfections on the rim at about six o'clock.

Thanks again Spence. I will just have to get a high magnification camera to share what I see up close. I wish I can show you that (the entire obverse has a very consistent appearance of what appears to be strong 'die wear' whereas the reverse shows some but not as amplified). From the very top rim if you follow it (obverse) ..it's almost like a dam about to give way as water runs down (like a "fast leak" idea) 1 runs all the way through Lincoln's EYE (raised metal) and downwards towards the bottom rim(s).

Ok yes, a higher mag photo could be helpful. It is just that die crack don't look like what you have here. As you may know, they tend to start at sharp corners in the design. On larger coins, they seem to run circumferentially around the rim, but about 5 mm toward the center. I'm not 100% sure what you've got, but I really don't think that they are die cracks. As more folks wake up and sign in, you will get more qualified opinions for sure.

with everyone else. Then they are making the zinc cents often times gas gets trapped between the copper plating and zinc core.

Because they are raised, they can be worn off an area and expose the zinc. Not a keeper, but a spender while the coin working days still exist for it.
