The doubled dies on the States and ATB Quarters are on the central area of the obverse and reverses of these coins. I can only think of one of the States OBV dies that is a DDO that is not on the earlobes. It is a 1999-S Poof Quarter that is on the outer devices.
1999-S 25c WDDO-01:

PENN Proof. All the other examples I've seen so far on these quarters are only affecting the ears. Why is this die different. The normal single squeeze process that creates a doubled die on these obverse die quarters are class 9 DDO. They start off with the hub not in the correct alignment, then snaps into the correct alignment, causing a doubled die on the earlobe areas. But on this die, the hubbing was probably started and they realized something was not correct. Then back out and started again. )which should not happen) This mad a doubled die because of the double hub process. So far this is the only one I know of so far.

No Doubled Die here. Just common Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration, a spender.

thanks coop & ev , I know the ear is the only known spot for DDO , but this one had me stumped (you said shelf like is md ),and the pics you just showed me look shelf like .this one just looked thicker/bolder letters , like the M I pointed to in the pic , the left side is larger then the right ,and you can see a hair line on the left of the M,E,R,I,C .like the ones in the pics below , but it can't be cause yours shows it going to the rim , this one just looks go left. but had to ask. good luck and happy hunting every one.
