Grade +/- AU-50, maybe AU-55 for the very good days.
Die shifts are frequent for this series, with no real added value.
It's the variety
Courteau #126 (R.1 / Frequency according to my research to date: +/- 2.6% of all the half pennies 1854)
From my book:Quote:
Obverse: The man's left foot shows. The figure «4» is away from figure «5», its stand ends opposite the left of tooth. From perfect and broken dies. When broken, with several die cracks, especially one from border to left point of ground (Between letter «Bank» and left rosette).
Reverse: Without dot within the right rosette. The stands of letters «TokeN» are weakly struck. The Union Jack outline below letters ends in a small fork, St-Andrews cross frame is broken in the middle. On fine specimens a small dot shows between letter «banK» and upper rosette. Generally with several suction marks (Die clash) around battle-axe. Sometimes a small defect occurs below anchor's ring, to the right. From broken die. Several die cracks, especially through right cornucopia and end of left one, and another one connects the letters «ONe».
I'm sorry if my English isn't perfect... I'm learning a little more every day.
