As the title suggests looking for some opinions on this 73 S. It's a long shot, but I see some similarities between the on the letters in liberty; in particular the "ERTY". Edited by CouchDiver1978 03/19/2019 6:03 pm

1957 and 1973 cents have very different design styles, it's not a good idea to compare the two. I think your 73 has slight Machine Doubling as the letters have decreased in size.

I thought so too and that's why I hadn't posted this point earlier, but your comment about my 73 holds for the 57 as well. So I'm confused what they refer to as doubling in the 57 I e the small over large, even though they're not describing it as a class 3, still makes it as a double die so

One thing I read at some point is that in 73 they changed the T in the Y from how they had it in 72 to make them Boulder. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with what is going on here. Probably not but I'm just throwing it out there

Quote: small over large, even though they're not describing it as a class 3 Where is it called a small over large? I don't think that's correct. The letters on the 57 have increased in size, note how the horizontal middle line of the R is thicker than the rest of the letter.

Maybe I didn't say that right, I'm not saying that this is a class 3 or that anyone that any of the literature is saying that the 57 is a small over large but that's what it looks like to me. It would be extremely helpful if someone could show me how I'm looking at this wrong. What I see is a small T on top and a large T behind it and that's what my coin and shows as well. Or at least that's what my eye sees at this point.

Download the CoinFacts app. Look at the coins for that year. They will all be similar to what you have.

best not to compare different ODV's or RDV's against another. Doubled Die classes describes something that show unique characteristics, though some seem similar in appearance can be different. Curious if this is the same coin brought up before? Thanks, Doug. http://goccf.com/t/333268&SearchTer...3,master,die

Yes it has, but I got so caught up in other devices that I neglected this part. I'm definitely going to download that book! Many Thanks guys! It was this coin btw.. Liberty is impacted differently than the other devices it seems. Or could just be me lol.
