Got a box in February 2018 and they all have a dark blemish on the reverse between the right of the shield and the m. They differ in visibility but all have this mark. Someone referred to it as metal galling.
Would it count as a mint error?

That's called Die Deterioration. It's not an error, as it's part of normal wear and tear on the die as it breaks down slowly after striking many planchets at the U.S. Mint. It's not a keeper.

I don't know how a color difference would be Die Deterioration, E&V.

Maybe some further explanation and pics are required. To me, that dark spot looks like a product of the pic itself. Maybe I am looking at the wrong thing, because that ridge that runs around the coin inside the rim is Die Deterioration. Is that what is being asked?

I guess OP needs to be more specific.

Even sneeze droplets can turn a coin dark. But when you look at the tops of the devices you can see a ridg ring starting to develop on this coin showing the die is aging. So it's a die event going on when this coin was struck.

Imac;

Are you saying you have a box of 1250 one cent LSC all dated 2018, and all have the same discoloration in the same spot on the reverse of each coin ?

Thanks for the input, yes I have some with and without the rim deterioration, the whole box has the dark spot I am speaking of. Under a loup it sort of looks like scratches. I got the box feburary of 2018. Some are more visible than others, this one is one of the visible ones. So maybe Die Deterioration? I looked up galling and it'd match fairly well. Its flat with the field.I've found more in circulation since then but only on the 2018s.
