I would really need to look at this one raw, hand held, with a 10x loupe, just as the TPGraders do, just to confirm. A bit harder for us, looking through plastic, on a screen. Could be some patina rub on the feathers of the eagle. That is that I think it is. If that is the case, then I think mpmedia has got it right, at MS63 or 4. Could be some very light wear underneath the patina, on the eagle feathers, but I don't think that is the case, because there is no attendent field nicks and scratches that I can see, that would be consistent with AU58. Nevertheless, tiny nicks and hairlines are a bit harder to find under a patina, under plastic, when looking on a screen. That explains the first comment in this post. A nice coin, whatever the grade.

I'll go MS-65 and assume that the luster is there and better in hand. Comp screen and plastic flattens it right out.

I agree with sel_69l very well put. I compared this coin to a few other high end coins (63-66) at Heritage, this one seems to have a much less pronounced strike around the cleavage on the bust. Maybe it's a glare spot on the plastic? The wear areas on a lot of earlier US coins will be contributed to "cabinet friction" it needs to be more obvious it was in circulation to go AU, this is not easily seen from static photos. I'd say some of the hardest coins to grade from photos accurately are all capped bust silver coins, all Pratt incuse designs, Proof and proof like coins. This is due to various camera lighting techniques. It's easy to manipulate just lighting a coin for a photograph to hide certain flaws and enhance others. All that aside I'm at MS63/4, I don't see the level of luster shown on other coins I compared with, but I don't see any wear, if there is any, this is an AU coin I'd pick over a lot of the mint state coins in the marketplace. Looking forward to the reval on this one.
