Hello, I inherited a rather large coin collection some years ago. I've really only gone through it properly tonight, and armed with Google researched most of the coins as best I could. The best find so far is 2 Australian 1925 pennies. One is in good condition I would say and has what I think is the broken N. The other is not in a good condition, it is sort of tarnished. I can't seem to find a value on them. I know I really should take them to a coin dealer to be valued, but was wondering if any one has a ballpark figure of what they might be worth. Especially the first one. Thanks

Hi Aussie. Check out Noble Auctions + IAG Auctions for past sale prices . They each have past sales archives with some showing a photo of the coin.

Especially the first one. Like a lot of Pre-Dec. Oz. Coins value has dropped since ebay started but still a rollercoaster. Poorer grade around A$100,average Cond. up to A$150. If your good Coin has minimal wear then best to get it slabbed which will increase value in multiples.

we need to see photo, but they are worth roughly 100-150 in fairly good condition, however top quality 1925 were breaking records (1925) a couple of years ago but these days they have fallen a bit.

Hmm, thanks for all your replies. I think if they are only worth a couple hundred, I'll hold on to them and continue my relatives coin collecting on. He loved coin collecting, and it's starting to interest me now too.
Can I ask what getting it 'slabbed' means?

slabbed means to get it graded by a professional grading company (usually the big guys NGC and PCGS) and then they encapsulate them so that authenticity of the object is almost guaranteed for the buyers.
Note that the 1925 penny is heavy faked due to it being collectible, however I not as much as the 1946 which is I find is even more heavily fake tho it has a lower value.
O.o maybe easier to fake due to its design.

When you say the coin is sort of tarnished.... do you mean it isn't red but has turned brown (quite normal) or that it has turned green (not good). Don't try and remove tarnish unless you are an expert in coin rehabilitation.

Numista is not a good site for values, ebay sold items seems more realistic.
