Thought I'd share this one...Adding to my slowly growing Sassanian collection... 22 bucks all in I think was a really good deal ? Not into shiny so the toning appealed and good clear details of date and mint location... Khusro I 531-579AD-AR Drachm-Max 31mm diameter-3.84 grams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khosrow_IObverse..Facing bust, head right, wearing merlon crown with tassel to left and surmounted by crescent with 3 vertical lines. Crescents at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. Right of portrait kings name. Reverse..Fire altar with two attendants standing facing either side of fire altar, wearing tall headgear, both hands on sword hilt. Star and crescent flanking flames of altar. Right-Mint HWC (Gunde-Shapur, Khuzistan) /Left- Regnal year 26 = 557AD. See detail.. Please feel free to post your Sassanian coins we'd all love to see them...Paul

Very nice addition Paul, as you know Sasanian coins are among me favorites. I haven't added any in a while though. Glad to see this one.

My first coin from the 6th Century AD was Sasanian. I like your new addition with super remaining details.

Thanks guys! Glad you like the coin... I've been searching a while for this ruler, and unlike the op coin, they always seem to have a flattened area on the attendants which I dont like.. The op coin however, although not perfect, does have reasonably decent detail overall and nice toning so will be happy to add it to my very small collection.. Spence I seem to remember your first coin was a Primus amoris donum? Wish I had girlfriends like that back then! ...Paul

I've owned about a dozen rulers, but Ron owns most of them now. Currently I only have Ardashir I, Shapur I, Hormizd II, Peroz, Kavadh, Khusro I, Hormizd IV, Khusro II, Ardashir III, and Yazdegerd III.
I need to image my Khusro I... I have the very early style where the attendants hold long spears at their sides, rather than short ones in front.
