The last time I posted this note was on another thread and thought this worthy of its own thread.
This series 1995 $1 note has a few things going for it, 1st, it's a Overprint on Back error printed in Fort Worth with a back plate #295 engraving error.
The next thing going for it is the serial number H55942966E is assigned to COPE plate position H3 printed on plate position D1. This is a swapped sheet variety where the left half of the 32 subject sheet A1 to H2 is serialed with numbers for right half of the sheet A3 to H4 plate positions.
Normal swapped sheet serial numbers are off by 2 quadrants, E3 serial on a E1 note & vice-versa, the overprint on back also throws off the plate position from H to D.
While not visible here, there is a weak overprint offset visible showing the serial number ending in 67.
When I first posted this on Facebook, Dr. Frederick J. Bart had replied this was the first one he has seen.
I failed to ask him if this would change the Rarity Index from a 5 to maybe a 6 or 7.
I made a laminated Census Chart showing the other 15 serial numbers having this same error and request anyone having one to please post a photo here so we can fill the chart. When the chart was made I had used "Mule" in place of "Engraving Error" and didn't want to make a second chart.
