Went to Publix today to make a quick return, inadvertently became one of my luckiest decisions in a long time. Totally caught me off guard but this beauty turned up in my change! YGP

Now you don't have to pay the $100 some people are asking on ebay!

And here I thought this was going to be a discussion on finish (surface) varieties of the W quarters.... like, "oh great, MORE expensive things the Mint made up for me to collect. Vapor blasted, RP, rattled around in all the living Presidents' pockets for a day (wouldn't that be cool?), matte, cameo, blah blah blah... Congrats, by the way. Very cool find.

Nice find. I'm lucky to even find a Quarter not all beat up.

On the subject, a thought occurred to me. One can buy a 100 coin bag from the mint's website for $34.95 (plus shipping, of course). So two questions are running through my mind before I possibly shell out the additional cost over face value. One, are the W mint marks mixed in or are they bags stored in the vault before mixing began? Would it be plausible to get two, where by I could off load one to recoup the over-face value? Part of me leans towards finding one in 100 buying a bag.
There is absolutely, positively no way I would ever pay anywhere near what the greedy individuals are charging. Then again, without fools buying them...

Ballyhoo, they aren't in the bags or rolls the mint sells directly they were mixed into the pallets of quarters shipped to the federal reserve banks and armored carriers that have distribution and handling contracts with the federal reserve banks, if applicable. They started mixin with American memorial park quarter. You can find the W AMP or Lowell W quarter in those rolls. They W coins weren't ready for Lowell distribution and I've come up empty searching many Lowell rolls which are the currently available quarter in my area in new rolls. From what I saw on it, they are held separately and a scoop is tossed in in each of the monster pallets going out the door from the mint. I don't know for sure, but I think if you bought a pallet from the mint you'd get a scoop full tossed into it but other than that, no they aren't selling them directly and won't be in the bags or rolls they sell directly. Personally I want a set of all 5 designs for my collection and that's what I'm aiming for. I don't need them immediately and I can wait until they turn up for me or until there's so many on ebay they sell at a reasonable price. Some people have to have it immediately and if they can afford to do that, more power to them and the sellers.

I found eight Lowell W Quarters today out of 9 rolls of American Memorial Park brand new quarters. I guess they are mixed into the A M P rolls. 4 of them with a lot of bag marks 2 with only a few marks and 2 that look real nice.
