Just picked up 2 boxes (100 rolls) of JFK half dollars from a local bank. Opened both boxes just to peak and found right away 6 rolls that had silver exposed on end of roll. First roll I found 4 40% silver halves! Will update as I find. Here are a few pics when I picked up from the bank:My-First-Order-Of-JFK-Halves. My-First-Order-Of-JFK-Halves. You have to try this daviscfad. I had no idea how heavy these little boxes were! I have many rolls to go through and I hope there are some more goodies. Will post my final tally when I am done.

How heavy are the boxes? I could imagine it would be fun and a bit of work to get these boxes home but I know it would be very enjoyable looking thru all of these coins.

Waiting to hear the results of your when you finish looking thru them all but it sounds like you are off to a good start finding silver ones.

This may sound a bit silly or rude....but what do you do with the ones that are surplus to your needs?

The boxes are heavy. I carried the two to my car from the bank and they both weigh about 80 pounds! 40 pounds each. I will take the surplus back to another bank.

Hi docsfishn, I have only opened 5 rolls so far, 95 to go. My finds so far are: 1967-2 coins, 1965-1 coin, 1968-1 coin, and 1969-1 coin.
One of the rolls had 3 coins in it. Will open some more tonight when I get home. It is literally like opening a Christmas present. I highly recommend. I will create another thread with my finds once I'm done.

Spetti, I would talk to Wachovia again because they can defiantly get them. I just picked up a box of half dollars from them this week. Didn't find anything unfortunately.

I know it's like opening up a Christmas present. I usually can't stand it and open them all as soon as I can. Can't wait to see what else you find.

Keep in mind......it's a lot of fun while you're finding silver.....it's when you hit a drought that you get very discourged.
Say for example you go through $2,500 to $4,000 dollars worth of halves and find NOTHING !......it's not so fun then !

How much did they cost? Was it any extra then face value?
And how did you find a bank that carries these?
