Die Deterioration Doubling and Split Plate Doubling, from a plating issue. Both are a negative for this coin.

Probably LIBERTY has the same thing going on, but on the left side of the devices. Tops of the motto devices can also be affected.

Save this one as an example of Die Deterioration. why? Because you can use it as an educational discussion piece to new collectors you run into. To show them what happened. The die is wearing out. You is a great example in that it show this on most devices even the reverse. Not a doubled die, but an educational piece.

this is a fascinating piece, I wouldve thought it was a doubled die. What about the wearing out of a die causes this? was it still pressed twice to get the doubled effect?
