I bought 40 rolls of pennies from the bank and found 4 Canadian cents and 3 Indian Head cents. By the way, I live in Dallas, Tx, so finding 4 Canadians was a real treat.

I'm currently working on each denomination of Canadian coins one cent- 25 cent. I agree with you, most are fairly easy to find and the others can be traded for with members here.

I have completed the George VI cents and Elizabeth through 1980. All coins were from US rolls. Of course I started the collection in the 70s....and I won't say how long it took to find the last George VI :)

That's pretty good to get a full date series from US rolls. Of course, the years they made magnetic cents might be the toughest.

If I still lived up north, I might give that a go! Unfortunately, where I live the Canadian Cent rarely makes an appearance.

I have quite a few Canadian cents but have never looked at them very closely. Do they have several mint locations? Are they marked according to mint location? Basically, what would I look for other than assembling a chronological set?

Puman, it's pretty basic. Small Cents started in 1920 and continue thru today. Three different monarchs. No mintmarks. A Maple Leaf, a dot, shoulder folds (or not) and now a "P" to make things interesting (and very expensive in the case of the 1936 dot coin).

Hmm...this sounds like a fun project. I've done about 10 boxes of US pennies, and I've got over a roll of canadian cents. I think I'll start this project...kinda fun =) Is there a list online of Canadian cents? Are there certain years where some pennies have / don't have a Maple leaf, or a dot, or shoulder folds? Just trying to figure out how to make a checklist...

1920 to 2008. 1936 Dot (only 4 are known to exist). 1947 with and without Maple Leaf. 1953 - 1955 with and without shoulder fold. 2003 P (to indicate copper-plated steel. actually began in that metal in 1997; just no P on the coin). ALSO 2003 P started issue of copper-plated zinc. Not sure how many total but think it's around 100 coins.
Key Dates: 1922, 1923, 1924, 1925. All have mintages of less than 2 million. 1926 and 1930 less than 3 million.

It took me forever to find the 1938 in change, but I did. How easy it to assemble this set in Canada? Do the older issues still circulate?

Nice challange !.... But, unfortunately where I live, the Canadian Cent does not make a frequent appearance here often enough to complete a "set".....

Quote: anyone know where I might be able to find a folder. Whitman made a nice 108 hole Classic album, #9151, dated through 1989. I got mine from a dealer in Oshkosh, WI. I don't know if dealer info is permitted on this board?
