Hi everyone!

The question on this one is quite simple...
Is this an FG or No-FG 1983-P Kennedy half dollar?
I can't see any trace of the FG personally. It is a circulated coin so not sure if it was worn down at all. Coin is in decent shape overall though, not too much wear.

Thanks!

I think I can still slightly see the "FG" initials, so it wouldn't count as a "No FG".

The only real mint error no FG circulation dates are 1972-D and 1982-P. There is also a 1966 SMS with no FG. These three were dies where there were no designer initials carved in them. So when striking a coin, there were no initials to be seen.

The 1983 is popular for not having the initials, but this is from die polishing in that area. Any date can likely be found without an FG, but again, its just die polishing and not a legit error. Since there seems to be more for 1983, these catch the attention of people more than other dates.

Personally if I can see any trace whatsoever of the initial, I will not call it a no FG.

You can look on ebay and see halves being sold as no FG where the initial are clearly seen as ghosted letters in the pics. The following situation is also not hard to find...

This is especially unprofessional for the 1982, b/c, as stated, the 1982 has a prominent die marker the "experts" should know about. Yet these things still sell b/c the label says there is no FG present. Just have faith and don;t believe your eyes

The 72-D and 66 SMS have no such die markers I have seen/read about.
