Thanks. There's only 7 years in this proof set and when I think prices have hit their low I'll pick up another. I'm kind of a little taken back I didn't have one from years ago when their prices were up a bit.

I agree: better pictures needed. However, this is the sort of situation where slabbing offers an advantage. Much easier to believe the seller's description.
Looking forward to seeing YOUR pics !

My favorite coin. I have one of each of the proofs. Only 7 different ones in the Mercury dime series. I know people think I'm nuts since I took them all out of the slabs and put them in 2x2 flips. Easier to store them but most people say that looses value but since I don't care about future values of my coins, no big thing. Sure wish there was places in the Albums for those.

@ just carl: I agree with your ideas regarding slabs, but how about the idea of providing extra protection by putting the proofs between two thin clear plastic sheets of of PVA, (Acetate), recovered from fresh food packaging from your local supermarket? If PVA is OK for fresh food, it must be also OK for the long term storage of coins. PVA sheet is almost un noticeable, when it is inside a 2x2.
Cut the PVA into 1.9x1.9 inch squares, put the proofs in between, then re enclose them back into your 2x2's.
My high value gold avatar coin (pictured), is in an album with this type of extra protection.

Interesting sel_691!
This remind me the comic bag (mylite) a much thinner mylar type used in protecting important documents and high value comics.

Thanks Coinfrog. JustCarl, I would preferably keep them in the holder, but if they were ANACS I'd probably pop them out and resubmit them at another time if it were me. The PVA suggestion seems like a good suggestion though. All in all, the coins are yours and if you want to take them out so be it. There's a better chance of the coins getting a knick somehow out of the holder, but that's your call. If you have a dealer friend maybe one day down the road you can piggyback off the dealer to get them re-holdered at a good price if you ever decide to leave them to someone....and all it will cost really is a night out on the town's cost. $200 bucks total including the steak dinner you paid the dealer to piggyback for the right re-slabbing price. Even PCGS has special submitting times which I'm sure you're aware of. It can be done again at the right time for not really an arm and a leg is what I'm getting at.....Or leave them to somebody one day and never tell 'em they were ever slabbed. Ha. Or take them with ya! I'm definitely taking a few with me when the time comes....slabbed or not! GrapeCollect, if I could find a toned Mercury dime proof I would've attempted to get it.

I too have the entire proof series. I left them in the slabs and I bring them to shows. When I sell one, I go out and buy the same date again. Its a vicious but profitable cycle.
