I scored this bad boy recently, and really like the look of these coins. Any other fans? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Proof 3CN have definitely been a special love of mine over the years. At one point, I thought I wanted to get a complete set, but I've since scaled that back. Here is one of my favorites (although, in honesty they're all my favorites!) and it happens to be the icon I use.

Nice coins so far. Oddly, I don't care much for business strike of 3CN, but I am quite fond of the proofs. I ALMOST bought one a few weeks back, but they store only accepted cash.....

Unfortunately, my photography skills aren't such that I can catch the Proof qualities of the coin at the same time as getting surface details like hairlines.

Are you sure the 1870 is a proof? Rims and denticals seem weak, the damaged obv rim, the heavy die crack on the rev with chipping, the non full strike in the lines on the III. I'm just not convinced. I know the mint had problems with the alloy and striking but I'm really just not sure about this coin.

Agree, not sure OP's is a proof. Here's mine, love these as well.

Edit: Forgive me - I just realized this was supposed to be proofs! These are my absolute favorite, as my avatar will attest. I have all but 2 of the circulated years and have started to amuse myself by collecting varieties. I will post those when I get my new imaging system in a few months. Here are some I have posted in the past: Good example of Longacre doubling and clashing My Avatar in full: Another lamination: 1866 Die Deterioration (I love this one):

Nice pieces guys! Well, I bought mine as a proof, so maybe I've been had. That said, it is a pretty coin, and I hope I didn't get burned.
