Too bad they didn't use incuse devices for the Buffalo nickel and the Standing Liberty quarters. That would have helped to save a lot of dates from wearing off the coins. But I guess they asked for it on that design. You don't add height to an area where is it already elevated. There is a way to tell on the 1916-1917 quarters that when the dates wear off, you can still find out which they are: Just figure out the type one and two. Keep the type ones.
