I have been collecting 17th century Swedish coins for several years now. Boy, it is slow going. I usually manage to get just 2-3 coins a year.
And prices keep going up which makes it harder with each new aquisition.

Sweden-Christina-1/2-Riksdaler Sweden-Christina-1/2-Riksdaler

Since the 1/2 riksdalers are scarcer than the riksdalers, I could not pass on this 1644 (MDCXLIV) 1/2 riksdaler of Queen Christina.
(I just bought it, this is the dealer's photo; I'm waiting for it to arrive )

Congrads! Wonderful coin!

Just out of curiosity, was it common for coins from Sweden to be double struck (as this coin appears to me)? I'm just wondering since I have a couple of 17th century Norwegian coins which are.

Yes, the Weimer press used for Swedish coins for this era is discussed in this thread

THANX t360
I will put a bookmark there.
How do you find that auction site?
Have you done business with them before?
I am hesitant about such things.

My experience ordering from http://ma-shops.com and paying with paypal has been perfect with these dealers:

2006-09-17 MÜNZENHANDLUNG MANFRED OLDING
2006-10-14 MÜNZENHANDLUNG MANFRED OLDING
2007-04-21 MÜNZENHANDLUNG MANFRED OLDING
2007-04-29 Münzenhandlung Wolfgang Rittig
2007-05-18 Münzenhandlung Wolfgang Rittig
2007-08-15 Leipziger Münzhandlung und Auktion Heidrun Höhn
2007-08-24 Leipziger Münzhandlung und Auktion Heidrun Höhn
2007-09-19 Münzenhandel Knopik
2007-11-09 Münzenhandlung Diller
2007-12-11 Münzhandlung Ritter GmbH
2008-01-03 Münzenhandel Knopik
2008-07-02 Münzen Sänn
2008-08-03 INGEMAR WALLIN UTVECKLING AB
2008-08-21 WAG - Westfälische Auktions Gesellschaft (waiting for delivery)

They all understand English and were very friendly.
Some of them required 4% added to paypal payments.
All of the coins or medals arrived in about 10 days and I was very pleased with them.

Once I placed an order with Münz Zentrum Rheinland. They never answered my repeated emails sent in both English and in German. Therefore I could not confirm that they would accept paypal and since they wouldn't correspond with me I didn't feel comfortable sending them a bank transfer. So we never completed the transaction.

All the other transactions listed above have been perfect with good communications with the sellers. I have also had good experiences with Pater, Kuenker, Dumez and Saive buying directly through their web sites.
