Cleaned long ago and starting to re-tone ...especially the obverse.

Can't tell if the stuff around the stars and on the rim on the left side of the reverse is caked corrosion or just heavy toning.

I need a sharper image to grade that coin.
But I agree that it has probably been cleaned.
I see no mint shine.

It's got some of that soap film look that often accompanies cleaning. Unc details:cleaning. FH.
I hope I'm wrong and it's just the picture. It's a beauty and an especially good strike.

Ma details was my initial thought after holding in hand. The stuff on the reverse looks like toning though and not caked corrosion but I could be wrong, I took a few through my loupe

The "stuff" on the reverse rim, between the 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock positions, looks pretty thick to me. The same "stuff" appears to be affecting the stars in the same general area.

This coin is a victim of being dipped multiple times and not being rinsed properly. In this case, like many others like it, time does not heal all wounds!
Rest in Peace

The coin still has a lot of meat on it . However it's been cleaned . The green on obverse and especially the reverse is saying corrosion . Au-55 Details .

Returned it..I bid based on the pictures given and it was either a) dark pictures because seller doesn't know better or b) hiding the fact it was cleaned. With A) I had a shot at getting a very nice piece at a discount. B) I overpaid slightly..I dont mind paying a little extra, but I want a ms coin not a cleaned if I'm goning to do so
