There is No 1972 S Small Dates. There Is a 1970 S small Date and 1974 L/S Dates. Also a 1979 S TYPE 1 and TYPE 2

Only 1960, 1970, 1974, and 1982 cents are known to have date size variations. No large/small date for 1972.

The ODV-027 was the obverse die used at that time. It has the same curve on the '9', but the bow tie was altered.

ODV-027. The small date 1970-S was the only die that had the small date on the 1970-S coins that year ODV-026. All the 1970 plain and Denver Were ODV-025
