Ok... Looking through my coins I found a few odd MM... I believe there is a large and small S for this date (hence the S/S) and I also noted there is an inverted MM for that year. I was trying to look through my coins and read up on it, but found it a bit confusing on the inverted MM. Now I am wondering whether there is one variety or two recognized? Also, the images I found for inverted - some had the trumpet tail on top while another posted a picture of it on bottom in reference... I believe the trumpet is supposed to be on the the bottom (trumpet tail) ;) So inverted it would be on top. Maybe it is too late at night to be looking at coins. LOL Here are my examples 1,2,3 that all look different to me? Anyways, I need some help here... please and thank you!! EXAMPLE 1: EXAMPLE 2: EXAMPLE 3: Edited by Eyes4Error 05/17/2019 04:15 am

example 3 looks to me like maybe it's the "Large S". I flipped your pic and it doesn't look like a normal mm that was inverted.

#3 is definitely the Large S variety, it is scarcer than the small S but not nearly as scarce as some reference books would have you believe. #1 and #2 look like normal Small S coins to me, both properly oriented based on the size of the loops.

OK yes... Example 1&2 look like MMS-001 just flattened by circulation... I posted #1 because the tail looked smaller than the others and #2 was what most of my nickels looked like, so I put it up for comparison. Ex #3 is a MS-002, but because it is flattened or whatever is going on I am having a hard time telling which way is up. Plus, since there is MD going on, on the back of the coin, I am thinking it may have added to the odd shape of the MM? Thanks for the replies! Yes I was definitely up too late looking at these, seemed to be much clearer after your input and going back and looking at images again.

I guess there is no large S technically... just small, & trumpet tail. But assuming trumpet tail is referred as the Large S.

Yes... that is where I finally referenced this morning...instead of trying to compare example images I found other places.
I do use Vista Variety... but forgot to look at mint mark styles. THX

The last one is a Large 'S' The first two look normal to me.
