I haven't really learned about master doubling yet, and what exactly that means? All I can gather is it is doubled on a master die and therefore somewhat common for that year?
Thinking I need to spend some time going through coops vaults and reading up on it more to get a better understanding.

At first I was thinking a metal flow issue keeping the metal from flowing into the devices of the date. But it looks interesting with the separation on the 973, with notching as well at the bottom of all three and even at the top of the 7. Very interested to hear others thoughts.
Can you please post full coin images of the obv and rev?

Yes, I will post some more pics of full coins and devices...soon!
Sorry, my camera is not taking very good pics as of late, and I need to invest in a new one, hopefully something that has better resolution.
But, I do see notching here... but I am thinking I need to read into master doubling, to see if it is an issue for this year?

Looks like an issue with double lighting? Note the light on each side of the devices. But the devices are not enlarged. So it is normal. Also a light rub on the devices can make an appearance of mark on the devices. There is slight MD also on the date. Note the lower upward cross bar. Bottom of Liberty. Nose is also altered. When you looks at Variety Vista for a DDO, there is only one listed: http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...3SDDO001.htmNote how the devices are enlarged. Wexler lists only one that year. (Different from the other site. http://doubleddie.com/823881.htmlUnder the cross bar on the '3'.

What makes the devices look larger is the thinned '1' on the date. Over polishing thinned that digit.
