As we all know when they punched mint marks into the dies sometimes they werent placed in the same place and "wandered" on the coin from where we usually see them. Now I know it's nothing special, not an error, it's the way mint marks were done and I'm sure there a ton out there just like this struck with this die pair. Just find it interesting it could be placed that low.

Here is my example, 1971D Jefferson nickel, the mint mark is almost in his ponytail.

Anyone else come across and saved any of these wandering mint mark coins? I find it intersting. If you have a wandering mintmark, please post it.
Thanks!

Man, that's so off! It's literally almost touching the ponytail!

I've posted this pic a long time ago. It's a 1926-D Lincoln Cent, with the mm lined up slightly east of the alignment of the third digit of the date.

There's a rather extreme variety of 1975-D Jefferson nickels where the mintmark is literally right next to the date, pretty much the opposite of the one you posted.

All of these very cool! I just knew they were out there
Awesomeness! I wonder when something like that happened was like the guy punching the mint mark hung over, or maybe just like sick that day and just like "whatever man, it's got the letter I'm not Picasso!"

They are all normal. (except for the RPMs I posted) But as long as they are in the target area, they are normal.

Gotta luv those '75Ds though. Speculation is still high

on this one. A couple of members here have them. I caved,

inspired by Bower's 1K bounty on an MS example, I offered

100 on my local CL. It netted me one offer, but was so

damaged, the seller declined my offer of 20. I just re-

listed my offer & hope to get a bite.
