I have come across a penny with Victoria old veiled on both sides.
Looking at internet seems to be 1898 period
Help appreciated

Welcome.

Could it be a Magician's coin? Is there a seam on one face all the way round just inside the rim? Pictures of both faces would help decide.

@pshann, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @anaximander that pics of both sides would help us to figure out what you have there. Also, I would add that a pic of the edge could be useful. At least in US coinage, the older Magician's coins tend to have the seam in the middle of the edge rather than around the rim. By the way, here is a link to the tutorial on posting coins:

There is on the outer edge a defined line that looks like two coins have been joined but the width of the coin would suggest this is impossible

Yes its had the REV taken off both coins so they are both flat,then the two parts stuck together.
The width then would be similar , its from 1895 -1901 and all have the same OBV although no reason why it wasnt done anytime after.

Anything imaginable that can be done to coins has been done-many times. Billions of coins and 100s of millions of people have used and abused coins in so many ways.

Sometimes the effort is virtually a work of art, other times they are crudely smashed or holed.
