This question has probably been answered previously but didn't see the question I have anywhere. I have been working on penny albums and I have many 1912 and 1914 pennies and so on. Naturally I want to put my best ones in the album and upgrade when possible. What would be the most important to grade higher, the wheats or Lincolns head and face ? Most have either or but not both sides in good condition. Thanks

It is really up to you, but I think most would say that the obverse needs to have the better grade.

Most albums (if not all) are designed to show the obverse.
But, if you like the reverse more, go for it.
On second thought, why not both?

It's true that if you use a Folder only the Obverse is seen. If you use an Album, both sides are visible but still most people see the obverse first anyway. I suggest you concentrate on Obverse conditions first. |

Both front and back of the coin should be taken into account when grading, and the edge, to achieve an overall grade of the coin. Nobody is grading just one side.
Now if you aren't really grading and just want to put what appears to you to be the best looking coin in there, then you should still be doing an overall comparison to determine which one looks better overall, Not just the best looking side of the coin.
Overall it's your collection you can do it however you like though.
