I found this recently at work. The obverse looks like a normal Retained Cud error but the reverse is wild. Any opinions or comments are welcomed.

@jy45, my first impression is that each one of those Cuds is actually extra metal that someone placed on a normal dime. Can you please post the weight of this coin so that we can confirm what you have? Also, I'll ask the mods to move his thread to the variety and errors section so that the right eyeballs look at your post.

I suspect foul play here from Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

I will get a weight when I get off work but what made me think it could be a mint error is if you zoom in at e plubrius unum the S looks like it's stamped on the foreign metal.

The weight is a tad over. So I'm thinking also that this coin was altered with solder added to the coin to make it look like something happen as a mint error, but really is not a mint error. Also looks like the reeds are missing indicating an alteration of the coin. PSD

Thank you for the info. I am a general manager for a fast food company and been doing it for along time I keep a lot of coins that look odd. This one I thought was too odd to be a mint error but the way the metal looked when I zoomed in seemed possible. I have collected for a lot of years but just starting to research my finds. I have one that I pulled a couple years back out of fresh roll of 2016 dimes that is got a lot going on I will share. I have tons of stuff I need to research.

Just a damaged coin. When it get back to a bank, it will be sent to the mint to be cancelled/recycled.

Sorry, but that 2016 Dime is intentionally damaged, after it left the U.S. Mint, and there's absolutely no way that it happened at the U.S. Mint. It just doesn't work that way (the actual minting process is pretty complicated). PSD. Spendable.
