Hi folks. Dug this 1798 Draped Bust LC in a field here Vermont earlier this week metal detecting (see below). I've dug a number of corroded DBs over the years here, but this is one of my better ones with a dark green-brown patina and only minor enviro. damage. It was only 2" deep in rocky, well-drained soil which is probably why it held up so well over the years. I've identified it as a Style 2 hair, but am curious on a Sheldon Variety if there are any DB experts out there. One of the online coin sites used to list the DB Sheldon Varieties with pictures but that seems to have been removed so I'm at a loss w/o the Penny Whimsy book. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, John

Congrats on a great find! Was this on youtube? I think I remember watching someone finding this one or one like it the other day.

Magnified pics of the date and fraction would be a good start.

Better pictures really aren't necessary. Variety is S-174, R2.
