Bought this nice coin out of a box of gray and regular dimes and quarters for $4.00. My pictures are slanted because toning is extremely hard to photograph! I love toning, so for me this is a great pickup.

Worn coin that has been cleaned to within an inch of it's life, and is now rather nicely re toning, - enough to make it a 'keeper'.

Hate to burst your bubble but this is not the kind of coin you want for a rainbow toning . This Dime is very worn and cleaned . Probably this color from the cleaning chemicals .

Oof. My mistake. I couldn't tell it was cleaned. It's fine, didn't spend a ton on it. Thanks anyway!

Looks like a classic early Whitman album tone, from the old blue folders that only have one side of the coin visible. Color mainly on the reverse as it is in contact with the paper (the older folders had a higher sulphur content). The newer ones I believe have a non sulphur paper backing.

Artificial toning will not follow the natural order of the visible light spectrum, think prism or rainbow, if you see colors out of order, then you can bet it's 98% faked with some sort of heat treatment or chemical substance.
