I found this 1964 D LMC with what looks like a completely different mintmark than the MMS-008 which was the MM used in 1964. It more resembles the MMS-007. It hasn't taken a hit or anything that I can see to alter its appearance. I have yet to have see this on a 1964 D. Thoughts?

A closer view of the mintmark. It looks like it may have taken a hit on the upper part of the mintmark? Note the bulge where the white color is? A contact mark may have altered it.

Mr. Coop, I should've taken top side pics of the mintmark as well. I'll get those posted in a couple hours.

Top coin,I'm thinking circ. flattening and toned over during the last 55 years (looks like the 9-6 and 4 have been affected) top "wing" of D missing maybe due to grease filled small part of MM. Just IMO...

The mintmark has not taken a hit. It is not flattened as it is as tall as a mint mark from an AU cent. I think this is the MMS-007 not the MMS-008.

Kinda looks like a modern D mint mark, but it's just flattening from all the machines it's been through.
