I'm thinking this is someone's logo? They have stamped into the coin for some reason? Maybe a superhero emblem?

It's a counter stamp of SC. The American state of South Carolina.

I remember these from the early 70's...I think Littleton was one of the promoters.

These have been arond for many years I've seen pieces dated in the 60's 70's a full set dated 2000, and a set dated 2010. They are probably still being made.

That jogs my memory. I think you are exactly right on Littleton.

Given history, an outline of South Carolina on a Lincoln Cent is just . . . wrong.
