Hopefully someone can help confirm the existence of some of these coins - I collect Solomon Islands coins and the catalogues report a number of coins but in 4+ years of looking I have never seen examples or photos of the following:

1c 1989
2c 1989
5c 1980 (without mintmark)
5c 1987
5c 1989
20c 1978 (without mintmark)
20c 1987

Can anyone confirm that any of these coins exist?

Krause reports them as common coins. There is a possibility that what Krause says may be in error.
Franklin Mint did strike quite a few different dates and finishes in very low numbers. I have a few for New Guinea with mintages well below 1,000, but that does not necessarily mean that they have a big collector value.

The best way I can think of, is to search through the low value dealers' junk boxes. That is how I had much success in searching for World square coins - 88 different types and counting.

@mr.t, have you checked numista and the NGC world coin website?

When I was more heavily into world coin type collecting, I also noticed that many "cheap" coins in Krause could not be found, and I was a heavy searcher of junk boxes.

I don't think that these and the Fijian coins come up much in pound lots...at least I haven't seen them.

I've been through a few junk-boxes and have only seem common-date Solomon Islands stuff.
What part of the NGC site? I've checked Numista without any luck.

I can confirm the existence of 5c 1980 nd 20c 1978, both without mintmark. I have them both in my collection.

Someone on another forum pointed out these are coins with FM-mintmark. They are so tiny I missed them.
So, I am sorry I cannot solve any of your problem coins...

Yeah the Franklin Mint ones are well known for those years but I've never seen the supposed no mintmark types.

Time for a revisit - anyone seen them since?
I'm told that a few of these coins only appeared in catalogues later (apparently they weren't in the 1994 Krause) which makes suspicious that they don't exist.

Anyone happened to come across one of these coins in a junk box or hiding in their collection? I suspect that not all of them exist but some probably do.

The Royal Mint has no 1978 no mintmark 20c in their collection so I'm inclined to believe that it doesn't exist.
