First,  The coin in your picture is dated 1879, but the topic heading mentions 1878-CC. Weight alone will not determine whether your coin is genuine or counterfeit. Please post obverse and reverse whole-coin photos of your coin. Thanks! |

1879-CC and it appears to be genuine in these images. Better images would help.

Sorry, but it appears to be a Chinese fake. Note that the placement of the CC alone is quite a bit off. Better photos would help, but from what I'm seeing, I wouldn't buy it for $20.

With CC's, the mm is often altered on a non CC genuine coin.
Do a picture survey on Google images,
comparing specifically the CC on the coin in question, with the CC's on Google Images.
Comparative ping tone with a common genuine Morgan may also help to determine authenticity.

Looks like a genuine 79-CC capped mintmark in very good condition. Better pictures surely would help.
Please, please, please properly crop and orient your pictures before posting. A computer monitor is very difficult to pick up and rotate 90 degrees!

I came across this coin from an auction I was told it was capped die and it is alittle worn but I'm pretty sure it's real I'm gonna take it to my coin dealer in the morning
