I was going through quarters in a vending machine when I came across this coin. I originally kept it because I need one for me collection. I'm not sure what this is, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Has to be from PSD, because this isn't even possible to happen during the minting, at the U.S. Mint.

GrapeCollects, so that's a Die Chip? Kinda confused here. Do you have a link to the CoinWorld article by any chance?

Found to be a die chip. Was published in Coin World as one of those unusual spirals/semicircles but Mike Diamond noted that he later found this to be incorrect and will publish a correction.

Taman, thank you very much for the link! I see now. It's a Die Chip. I will disregard my first comment.

Nice unusual find..IMO 2x2 time..I didn't think there would be enough room to check for quarters in a vending machine?

I covered this coin a couple days ago on my Youtube channel. Due to the interest in the secondary market. The last 3-4 examples have sold on ebay for $45-60 in the last week.
