1999 D Penny What's Up With These Errors?

brookeAD5683 Valued Member United States 60 Posts	Posted 06/19/2019 10:44 am I took quite a few photos so y'all can get a pretty good look at what I'm seeing here, and (hopefully) give me some good news/advice. I have this 1999 D Lincoln Penny that looks to me like it has some kind of doubling errors on the obverse and reverse. Also, I have no clue what happened to "LIBERTY". Is that doubling too? Or is it something else? Would someone please identify this for me? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Looks like split plating around LIBERTY, and lots of staining around the obverse and reverse. Occasionally we get pretty strong push back from someone who thinks they have found a million dollar coin. Of course we all have different threshholds for what is worth saving and you should absolutely save this coin if you want to. The exposed zinc has put this coin on a downward spiral though and the condition will not only not improve with time, but will absolutely deteriorate.
