OK its not US error, but undoubtedly an error. Or rather three.
Many years ago, I ordered a handful of these ultra-common German coins, and received these among them. Kept them ever since in hope someone would someday tell me what's wrong with them Guess this moment has come.

How do I name these errors?

Here in the US, the first two are called "die cracks" and the last photo shows a "rim Cud".
If you notice on the first photo, the crack has started at the rim and ended at the rim. Eventually this whole area will break off, producing a "rim Cud" similar to the third photo. This is where a blob of metal moves into a deep hole in the die. That's how I would describe it--anyone correct me please.

DL20K and Kurt, I don't know where the fine line is drawn, the first picture appears to have passed the crack stage and is now a die break. 2nd picture I can't tell if it's a Cud extending into the wheat stalks or crack. 3rd picture, aggreed, nice rim Cud.

I'll try to take better daylight photos tomorrow. These were late in the evening and that's why they aren't of good quality. Also, I remember having another coin with something similar to the third one.

Here they are. Including the 4th one, similar to the 3rd. Any changes in the identification?

#1 is a heavy die crack
#2 is either a die crack or just possibly a Retained Cud. I can't tell for sure from the photo.
#3 is a design Cud not a rim Cud
#4 is a rim Cud.

DL20K the difference between a die crack and a die break is whether of not a piece of the die has broken away and fallen out. If the piece of the die that breaks away and falls out included the edge of the coin it is called a Cud. If it doesn't include the edge then it is just called a die break.

#4 is a rim Cud because it only includes the rim. #3 is a design Cud because it has extended beyond the rim and now includes part of the design, the lettering.

Oops I was mistaken on #4. I thought it was the rim and denticals. It actually crosses the field area between the rim and inner border and includes part of that border so it would also be a design Cud.
