Does anyone have any information on this medallion? It's in a protective folder and appears to be silver?

Most of the States issued medals celebrating the Bicentennial in 1976. Most were made in both copper and silver They pop up on ebay now and then. Check sold listings for more information and values.

Maybe a mod will see your post and move it to a more appropriate sub-forum.

This medal has a date of November 11, 1012 on it which is the date that Vikings were maybe hanging around Heavener, Oklahoma. They supposedly left archeological evidence chiseled into rock outcroppings as evidence of their exploration of southeast Oklahoma. (There is a whole page devoted to this on an Oklahoma Historical site web page! Just search "Heavener Runestone")

It somehow made it on to the Oklahoma Bicentennial medal, so I guess it has to be true!

From your pics, it does not appear to be silver. If it is silver, then it is worth the melt value, otherwise no collector value.
