to the CCF! I believe that 5.7 is within the mint tolerance for quarters. I may be wrong but that's what I tend to find when weighing quarters. The smudgy-looking lettering is from Die Deterioration (die wearing down after striking lots of coins) and circulation damage and flattening. Happy hunting! -CH27

On the quarter in question, do me a favor. Can you get a shot of the QU in QUARTER?

Is this close enough for the QU? Thanks for everyone's help!

Thanks for the closeup, nice photo too. I thought it may be the Type C reverse, but it appears it isn't. Keep looking and you'll find something soon!

First, Others have already weighed in on what you are seeing with the coins. I just wanted to commend you for noticing the different appearance of the coins and for asking the questions. This is how we seek and find new things with coins and learn more about what we are seeing. Continue looking closely at your coins, and your eye will soon start spotting things of collectible interest. They are out there for the discovery!
