Hello Everyone!
This is my first post, my first error coin and hopefully my first submission to PCGS.
I wanted to get some of your opinions before I spend $100+ on a scratch.

Thank-you for your time and for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Not a scratch and not a strike through. Just a lamination error. These are pretty common on War Nickels and not worth much of a premium. Defininitaly not worth sending for grading.

The submission fees would exceed the value for this coin. As mentioned its a lamination error. No need to have it graded. To me, I pay nothing extra for a graded coin. It adds no extra value to a buyer. Sometimes a graded coin is not what it is graded as. My motto: "Buy the coin, not the plastic." Make sure the coin really is that coin, before buying it. I've seen a lot of graded coins recently that are not correct. So look before you leap. If unsure, pass. Save your money for the correct coin.

kelly619!

That is indeed a peeled lamination flaw. While not being slab-worthy, it's still worth more than face. Any War Nickel is worth about a dollar, but that lam makes it better.

@kelly, first welcome to CCF. Second, that lam may not be worth slabbing, but you should put it in a 2x2.
