got this quarter in change a couple years ago, appears to have no cladding at all on either side.
Is this a chemical trick or an error? The couple jewelers in the area I took it to said the weight was right.

Probably one of the gold plated HSN quarters they were selling to the rubes back in the day. After they bought them and realized they were just face value coins they paid a lot for and were only worth face value, they spent them. Value is still 25 cents. Nothing special to a collector. The surfaces were altered.

@tiht, first welcome to CCF. Second, coins that are legit missing clad layers are lighter in weight than normal coins so you could confirm the above opinions yourself by weighing this quarter.
