I believe something else about this coin may be inadvertently causing an appearance of a Wide "AM" variety. any ideas/reasons for this? this may help newbies like me to identify the real thing. thanks in advance for your help!

hello Wrenes,

This site gives a good description with pictures on CAMs and WAMs. After the list of CAM and WAM dates, line "1" answers your question about the small space on some CAMs.

Heavy die polishing is what is causing the appearance on your cent. As the dies get polished it reduces the size of the devises widening the gaps between them. Notice how there are almost no vertical lines between the Memorial and the roof? Caused by over polishing. Hope this helps.
