@md86, first welcome to CCF. Second, it would be nice to know what you are seeing with the coin in hand. It looks to me like Abe may have a plating bubble or dice chip by his eye, but I'm not sure that this is what you mean. Also, when I enlarge and enhance this area, the pic gets pretty pixelated. Any chance of a couple close-ups of the region of interest?

Yes that is my area of interest. I'm not sure what it is either. I thought it was interesting, simular to the monocle die break, I know its not the monocle...Im very new to the whole forum thing. I have a huge coin collection. Few to as I dont know what they are. Which I an also trying to post. I did the toothpick test, it did not deflate, so dont seem to be a plate blister. I can possibly get more closer pictures. Thank you for welcomeing me, and am looking forward to getting to know this site, to be able to navigate it more simply. Being how I'm doing this on a phone, posting images seems to be being very difficult, hence the double posting of the same picture.

Ok yes it sounds like you have already done your homework some. Not being able to depress it with a toothpick suggests to me that it is not a plating blister as you note--perhaps a small die chip. I'm interested to see what others think.

Correct. It is a small die chip. Keep in mind the die is a negative of the coin. Something raised on a coin, is incuse on the die. So what happens when a piece of the die breaks off the die? It will be a raised area on the coins. So the chip that is there now, was an incuse area on the die. See how that works? So note these three dies. The first in the back is a die crack. The crack is an incuse mark on the die. What does that mean for a coin? That means the coin will have a thin line that the die now is having as a void, and will raise on the coins struck with that die. The one of the left in front: The die is missing a piece of the gutter that forms a rim that is missing. What will happen on the coins will be struck after this happens? They will have what is called a rim Cud or a raised area above the normal rim. Why? Because that area is incuse, so it leaves a raised area on the coins struck with this die. The die on the right edge is broken off of the die. So now the die has a void. What will happen on the next strike? The void on the die will leave a large raised area on the coins. But the dies void, is much taller that a planchet. So what happens on the coin. The coin will only raise as much of the metal that it has, to fill the void. So an incuse area on the die, will leave a raised chip of the coin. This void in the die will leave all the coins struck with with it, with raised areas on the coins struck with it. For how long? Until the die is retired.

This is a different coin. Start a new thread with your image and your questions. Keep the coins to one per thread. Just copy previous post and delete it, then start a new thread with this coin. It keep searches easier to find for each coin. When someone post about a lot of coins, I just pass them by until they fix them. You do realize you can edit your post up to 24 hours? )).jpg)
