I'd say AU details (of some sort, but doesn't look like a typical cleaning).

It was an older lady and they were her grandpas pennies that she found in his stuff when he passed away. She said she cleaned them bc they were all black and you couldn't read them. I know it's unfortunate but for $1, I knew even if they were ruined, I would learn a lot on this subject so if a similar situation arises in the future, I can make an educated decision. Thank you guys for all of your input.
