No trace of the eagle on the obverse unfortunately, but George is all over the reverse. I had to take pictures from different angles because some of the silhouette can only be seen from this or that one.

I have no idea. They're my favorite kind of error but they're not universally popular like doubled dies, and there's no registry of ones to watch for or anything like that, unless I just don't know about it. It's not a fluke event like Machine Doubling, because a die that has clashed will then produce coins like this until a worker notices and fixes it. But the initial clash itself is kinda rare I guess.

Most of the Die Clash has been polished away. You can see the abrasion marks on the reverse

The so called "Spitting eagle" Is the name given to this. People think they are valuable. While interesting, I would never buy one. But I'm a variety purist.

It is just a die event. A clash.

I didn't know the spitting eagle is a die clash, but it makes sense. Of course this is a 72 not a 83 so I wasn't even thinking 'spitting eagle'. Ha to me there is no "just" about it being a die clash. I think they're a thousand times cooler than any doubled die. I had so much fun studying this coin and figuring out what was what. They're like ghosts.

Errors and Varieties do you have any photos of ones with this same clash where it's less polished away?

The reverses general devices on the quarter stay pretty much the same. The 1976 was a different reverse and the 1999 thought today as different reverses. But they are pretty much the same whether a 83 or a 72.
