A bit larger image might show us more. It appears to be a lamination and a die crack on the hear. It is circles around that area a retained die break. But Can't see well enough to know for sure.

Thanx alot coop..images are awesome and its even more awesome to have it looked at and verified by who id consider a professional such as yourself..based on what ive seen even on other peoples posts..if coop says it is.. it is..and your breakdown of the coin in question is purely genius..for the longest time I thought this to be a lamination..Till about three years ago when I learned of the ridb..i had found a dime with what I suspect to be a ridb..im sure ill have it up here soon for inspection..thanx a million and excelent work!

I can see why you wondered. It look seeing the right side of that area where it contact mark happened to convince me to it was not a lamination. With a bit lower angle on the light, were would probably see the break line around the area in question that is higher than that area. The seconded edited image that I worked, you can see what I'm taking about. The contact mark and the shadow just beyond the RIDB border.
