Nice find levelsofmadnes! You have it! For everyone's information, the doubling is under the middle part of the three in the date and no where else. http://doubleddie.com/823881.html

Edited to correct smartphone typo.

Thanks Errers and Varietys
Dang... I thought it was the 3 under the middle leg.
That is what Doubleddie.com describes it as.
Is there a page change we don't know about?

Amazing eyes to see that doubling @lom! (My peepers can't see anything on this one.)

Thanks Spence,

I can see close but I can not see far.
So, when I get in my car I put on my glasses so I can see what I hit.

Hahaha LOM.

Nice coin-I too see it on the 3 and not the 7. I would probably have missed it.

I changed the header From "1973 D" to "1973 S" and that probably put Errers and Varietys in a loop.
It is all good

When you retake the image, I'll make a reference image. It need spiffed up a bit with mineral oil and a green thorn to make it stand out more. I'd missed that probably. Glad you posted it.

@coop,
I have been trying to use 100% acetone and the results are terrible.
Any recommendations on spiffing it up?

Mineral Oil? What kind/brand?

Never heard of Green Thron.

I like to use Naphtha as a oil remover instead of acetone . The evaporation rate is much slower. The green thorn is a fresh living thorn from a rose bush. Once the mineral oil/Naphtha/acetone loosens the crud in the devices, the incredibly fine point of the thorn can gently remove the crud from crevices and corners

Great eyes to be able to spot that, but also seems like you know exactly what to look for. I only search for well known and strong varieties. Wonder if I need to broaden up my search list.

Congratulations on spotting that LOM!

Cheers

Using a green thorn is not a harsh as a toothpick. But it removes the grit in chucks. When this falls away from the devices, dump it off into a trash can. Don't try brushing it off the coin. The grit may contain sand and this rub will scratch the coins surface. This is only for circulated coins with grit on them. With the extra soft toothbrush, brush lightly in sever directions turning the coin as you go. The thorn is to loosen any left over grit. Pat the coin dry with a facial tissue. Don't rub as it can scratch the coin. Never use on BU or proof coins. This will not remove toning. I usually start with a small amount on the coin on both sides. If it is real bad you can let it soak. But it works good. Experiment on a circulated coin to get the process to work for you first. But only to be used to remove grit from the surface of a coin.

I put tape on 1/2 of these coins to show the before and after look.

Thanks Rookie2018
@coop,
I used a generic PUBIX version of mineral oil and was more than pleased.
Placed in a small cup for about 30 min obverse up then 30 min reverse up with very light tapping motion to the coin with an "ultasoft" tooth brush.
Didn't use the Green Thorn.

Should I try soaking it longer or using more pressure or a scrubbing motion?
