Hi, I got a dime the other day(Canadian dime 1994) that is darker/ has rainbow/redish tone, it seems to weigh .04 grams more then all my other dimes around the same year. There is no debris on the coin so I'm wondering if there is a weigh to tone a coin and increase it's weight slightl

The weight is 2.11g as far as my others weigh all 2.07g and my camera is bad but it is darker then all the others and as I said some redish rainbowish toning, also is magnetic

The weight is never exact... .04 grams is within normal tolerances...

As for the dark colour, there could be any number of reasons for that... everything from environmental toning to improper annealing... like this one:

+.04 isn't a concern unless you find yourself blowing into a breathalyzer.

Well its consistent and off colour still, my camera doesn't do justice. But it's twice as dark as any normal dime and the toning on it is weird, I got a new scale recently and it's very accurate so consistent off weight must mean that it's some kind of error or it's simply Mercury toned or something.

This coin is starting to look really cool, the color is getting darker and almost looks rainbowish. I'll post a new picture soon. Pretty cool toning
