I'm interested in an item currently listed on ebay (NOT a coin). It's a 4 figure item that's listed as a buy it now for what a consider a good price, but not too good to be true. My concern is that the seller has a feedback rating of 83. The breakdown shows but 2 items in the last year, and detailed feedback for just one transaction that took place "over a year ago." Is the lack of detailed feedback in this case a cause for concern? He has 3 other items currently listed that are of a similar type, all more expensive than the one I'm interested in. |

A bit vague. What are your concerns? That the item is not genuine? That the seller will take your money and walk? Something else?
Is the item for sale something that you would expect to find for sale by an inexperienced seller?
I guess the bottom line is, it depends on many factors and feedback score alone is not enough to answer the question.

Communicate with the Seller BEFORE pulling the trigger. Ask questions, lots of questions. You can learn a lot about the Seller without actually talking to them. How well did they respond, how fast did they respond? Was their demeanor and attitude acceptable? I'd be concerned ponying up a 4-figure price for ANYTHING on ebay! If you choose to go ahead with the transaction cover all your bases and tread lightly. Chances are everything will turn out fine. But just in case it doesn't know your recourse! Good luck! |

be sure to use a credit card through paypal, you will then have ebay's money back guarantee, good for 30Days after you receive it, and you also have your credit card protection through paypal, good for 6 months. |

Silver Wolf nailed it. Pay via Pay Pal. I've sold plenty of 4 & 5 figure items on ebay and even when I began to sell if I had someone pestering me with a dozen questions I'd block them and sell to someone else. ebay isn't Craig's list. |

Not worth it. Especially when shipping with insurance and signature costs a pretty penny and you don't get that back if they return the item. Don't get me wrong, a fair question is never wrong to ask, but the pestering type, thats what does it for me. |

A lot of sellers get bad raps for coming off as jerks for blocking quickly, but in reality it's the nature of the platform where that is really the only thing they can do to protect themselves. This is especially true now with all the free shipping and people feeling it's not their problem if they buy whatever and return it because it costs them basically nothing |

Back to the question, I see no issue buying from a seller with those stats. Most people that sell on ebay don't do it full time, and like me might only sell a few things a year but mainly buy. Ask a question about the item if you have one, but I would not ask one to just judge a seller's trustworthiness. |
