Man I hate bursting bubbles ... Grape, check the diagnostics for VAM 14-1, 14-1a. The "comma feather" on the VAM 9 has much greater separation from the eagle's leg.
I'm not convinced it's the VAM 9 either. The comma feather is much more pronounced than this one - I've cherrypicked two of them one was VF/EF the other was slabbed as AU58, I found them both along with a long nock 1878-S in a gold buyers shop junk bucket. so it can happen, though I found them back in 2000, right around the time the TOP 100 book came out, not so many people were searching for the VAMs then.
