@CS, sorry but we need a little more info. What country, denomination, and date are you talking about? Or are you asking in general about coins made from this alloy?

The mirrored fields of proof aluminiun-bronze coins often have a "black" appearance, compared to a normal circulating coin of the same design.

Here's a circulated proof Austrlaian $1 aluminium-bronze coin I found in change many years ago:

I rmemeber when I saw it, my first thought was "Why is that coin all black?". It wasn't black - just mirrored proof.

The pair of 1970 Austrian proofs I have are very low on the cameo/frosting compared to @Sap and have a bit more uniform appearance as in the photo. The surface color is certainly darker than a normal strike in Al-Br, which is usually closer to gold in my experience (but I guess can also depend on the specific composition of the alloy).

By the way, that 50 rupiah is an interesting coin.
