What say you. I can't find a matching VAM for it so probably no chance.

The reverse is showing the wrong arrow feathers these are slanted, not the 1878-S reverse of B1 (parallel arrow feathers) . Have you checked the edge for a seam? If the coin is really dated 1878-S? This is a Hub Type C reverse.

Can we get full obverse and reverse photos? This is strange as far as I know all 1878-S have the B1 or B2 reverse none have a C reverse.

How about a photo of the label? I'm on ICG website and I can't find any "Long Nock" in AU they show an AG, VG, and a VF graded no AU without a VAM # being listed as well. This is strange. ICG's site is only just slightly worse than ANACS when looking up coin in their pop.

ICG may not show details coins at all I can't find that info either.

I'd like to check the cert number on their website, hence why I want to see the label. Or at least the cert # would be good enough.

Need the cert # it must be on the reverse. Unattributed so that explains why there isn't a "long nock" in AU on the pop page. They still may not have a DB showing detail coins.

The ICG cert verification is showing this coin as an 1879-S AU55 (no details). Any chance the slab has been tampered with? This isn't the coin assigned to that certification number at all, completely different date.

My guess is a fake Chinese coin was inserted or the whole thing is faked, sorry to say. I'd be on the phone with them in the morning first thing.

Where did you get this coin/slab?

It isn't mine yet. I've been working with seller photos. Glad to see I dodged a bullet.

Yep thankfully I was able to help before you got burned. Where did you find this "deal" if you don't mind me
asking?

Is the seller representing it as a long arrow nock?

No they aren't and it's a non-ebay auction house. The site can be a bit dodgy with fakes, but you can get good deals and nice cherrypicks with patience.

POssibly mixed up photos that were posted, the obverse and reverse don't quite match up either, contact them to see if a mistake was made in posting the images perhaps, but I'd be wary of dealing with any company that has fakes regularly posted at all. I could see one getting through, but if there is a pattern of fakes being listed then the whole company is bad period.
